AUTOMATION (AU)
The Aerosolutions Automation Course (AU) is provided over a 2-day period in Ottawa. It uses advanced training devices such as the Cessna Citation C550 Level D simulator with Collins Proline 21 avionics and integrated Universal UNS-1F FMS with WAAS approach capability. It also uses full-function FMS desktop trainers for the UNS that allow the student to program and fly a full flight including departures, SIDs, routes and airways, STARs, holds and approaches using the exact keypad used in the simulator and aircraft.
This course is an excellent introduction to advanced avionics and their operation for any pilot about to undergo type training on an advanced aircraft or about to fly an aircraft with an FMS.
Using the above aids and other advanced automation CBT training systems, we explore the best practices for using automation, including: theory; levels of automation; when to use which level; how to stay “ahead of the aircraft”; using SOPs; programming issues; standard calls; flight directors; symbology; and, abnormal and emergency procedures.
The Automation Course requires a minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 8 to ensure full use of the training aids and personalized instruction.
Price: $2,500CAD plus 13% HST per student. Students associated with an MPL or integrated ATPL course at Ottawa Aviation Services (OAS) may get a discounted price. Contact OAS for more information.
