MULTI-CREW COOPERATION (MCC)

The Multi Crew Cooperation course is essential for an airline crew member to fly in Multi-Pilot Aircraft (MPA).  The MCC course equips a pilot with a significant advantage when they are wanting to be interviewed by an airline.  It is also an important step in making the transition from single-pilot to multi-crew operations.

The aim of the course is to become proficient in multi-crew cooperation in order to safely operate multi-pilot, multi-engine aircraft under IFR using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practices.

The objectives of MCC training are: optimum decision making; communication, including the use of standard phraseology; division of tasks (crew coordination); use of checklists/QRHs; use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); mutual support and supervision; teamwork; and, best practices throughout all phases of flight under normal, abnormal and emergency conditions. The training emphasizes the development of CRM skills applicable to working in a multi-crew environment.

The MCC course also includes the opportunity to practice the skills that are necessary to be effective Captains and First Officers. This is achieved by planned scenarios in which the students are crewmembers in both the pilot flying (PF) and the pilot not flying (PNF) roles.

The main areas covered in this course are:

The MCC course takes place over 8 days with 25 hours of classroom time and 5 simulator sessions totaling 20 hours in the Mechtronix King Air Level 5 Trainer.  Extensive classroom presentation of all the topics listed above provides excellent preparation for the student during the simulator phase.

The MCC Course meets all TC and JAA standards.  Owing to the simulator requirements, it is normally offered at our facilities in Ottawa.  The minimum course loading is 4 students, and the maximum is 8 students to ensure personalized instruction and to avoid a long break between the classroom and simulator phases for some students.

Price:  $4,800CAD plus 13% HST per student.  Students associated with an MPL or integrated ATPL course at Ottawa Aviation Services (OAS) will get a discounted price.  Contact OAS for more information.
